Elizabeth Cotter
Elizabeth Cotter, M.S., L.P.C., is a mental health advocate, presenter, therapist, and educator with a specialization in trauma focused services for women, children, and young adults. She began her exploration in mind body wellness as a dance teacher, receiving her B.S. in Dance Education from NYU with a focus on improvisation and creative movement for the very young. This work led to further studies in psychology and child development, eventually leading to a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and further studies in CBT, DBT, EMDR and DIR Floortime.
Elizabeth works to further advance community understanding of the impact of trauma in the systems that work closest with our young people and the adults who support them. In addition to private practice, Elizabeth serves as a consultant in nonprofits and school districts throughout New England. She is currently the Clinical Director of a Youth Agency and a Professor of Psychology and Lifespan Development at Naugatuck Valley Community College.
